Bell's New Hammer Network Storage Line to Feature Zetera's Breakthrough SoIP Technology
SAN JOSE, Calif., Jan. 5 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Bell Microproducts, Inc. (Nasdaq: BELM), a leading, worldwide distributor of data storage products, announced today the upcoming launch of a new line of network storage devices that incorporate Zetera's Storage over Internetworking Protocol (SoIP) technology. The new product line, which moves Bell Microproducts solidly into the business network storage space, will include desktop and rackmount devices for business users, and is slated for release under Bell Microproducts' Hammer Storage brand in the first quarter of 2006.

SANmelody softwarenetBoot/i provides the ability to network boot Windows Servers and Desktops from an iSCSI target remotely located over a standard IP network.
With netBoot/i, lower cost blade / diskless servers and desktops are now supported in iSCSI environments. Using standard Ethernet adapters, netBoot/i offers an iSCSI network boot solution without requiring specific iSCSI HBA hardware.
Servers and desktops can now leverage the benefits of iSCSI disaster recovery. Diskless operation of servers, server farms and desktops allows network management tasks to be consolidated and streamlined while data security is significantly improved. netBoot/i enables rapid bare metal deployment, increases utilization of storage resources and virtualizes operating system data storage.
netBoot/i includes a Windows software initiator driver and all the necessary administration tools to set up an iSCSI network boot environment.

Based on industry-standard Internet Protocol (IP), Zetera Z-SAN™ technology eliminates the need for costly controllers, gateways and RAID controllers that have limited network storage to the enterprise. Z-SAN represents the natural evolution of network storage and delivers on the vision of true Storage-over-IP (SoIP). Z-SAN network storage technology delivers line-speed, controller-less IP storage for a fraction of the cost of iSCSI or Fibre Channel. Z-SAN uses IP as the storage fabric (e.g., SoIP), delivering network storage without bottlenecks and at the lowest cost. The technology uses IP multicast to achieve sharing, spanning and RAID without specialized hardware while scaling linearly without the need for additional controllers/aggregators. http://www.zetera.com/Technology/Overview.html
